In his latest article, Mark Silinsky examines the criminal activities of the Taliban. Those activities were a role reversal for a movement which had viewed itself as enforcers of Sharia law. In order to further their violent extremist ideology, they turned to the crimes of extortion, kidnapping, bank robbery, murder, and narcotic trafficking.
