LTC John Paganini, Director of the Counterinsurgency Center hosted a public webcast on the revision of FM 3-24, Counterinsurgency, 16 Feb 2012. This was the third webcast on this subject and was intended to gain understanding of as many opinions and voices as possible to inform the writing team. Throughout the entire process of this rewrite, LTC Paganini mentioned two critical “filters”. The manual must have enduring fundamentals, tactics, and procedures. Most importantly, it must be applicable to the future counterinsurgency fight anywhere in the world. Discussion also covered the availability of the questionnaire and request for input (see here), and three issue papers now available on the FM3-24 Revision website (link here). The Counterinsurgency Center is close to completing details for the FM 3-24 Revision Conference and will send invitations out as soon as possible.
